Yeah, I saw that football thing, very sus given the other content.
I have no problem with people sharing stories, as long as they do the right thing by the authors, even if the authors have moved on.
It would be so easy to do the right thing, a few keystrokes, leave basic title and author info in the description, state that it's a fictional story, since there are commenters there that took it seriously, and job done. I'd be happy to give them a shoutout. But it's clear they aren't going to do that. So instead I'll give a warning.
As you say, it's probably not worth my time and effort to take action, it likely wouldn't do much good, the channel owner will create another channel and carry on doing what they've been doing. And the community can't be motivated to do anything. Sad.
I guess I could put together a list of sus sites and channels, try and warn people, put a link in the header text of this place.
I haven't looked at the other stories, I don't want to give the channel views and watch time if I can help it, but I am curious to see if any of the other stories are stolen. They likely are, I've identified one.
If any action is to be taken, we'd need to bring the receipts.
That youtube channel has done it, yoursmokingfetish has done it. People on amazon have done it. I've seen plenty of stories, the HFY ones, that have done the wrong thing. But I've seen plenty of content where the right thing has been done, attribution given, authors paid for their work. If I could, I'd be willing to do that too, because it's the right thing to do.
I guess I'd better got to work on The Naughty List. I hope it does some good.
