I start with where, why and how.
Then drill into the where with a why, I drill into the why with a how, then ask why again.
DON'T give her the 120 questions she will run to the hills.
These smoking girl's will give you the Answers.
I do it over several days.
Take the answers I've got and build the story then go back and tease more out to fill in the gaps until it makes sense.
I've tried the list of questions twice and had 100% failure record.
Start with who they are, build the character as it was a proper story.
What was the reason for that first cigarette. It won't be a surprise to your person she had a cigarette, there will be a build up.
So once you've got day one. You can go backwards into the Where? Why? how?
Then you go forwards. Why, where, how for that second and third cigarette. You would have hated the 1st why go again? Family or friends?
Look into the routine?
Is it smoking whilst socialising? Was it a Wednesday, Friday Saturday thing?
Or was it a sibling helping you along?
So your protagonists answers drive the conversation...
Having 120 questions is utterly useless.
Because she is not an AI chatbot but a human.
She will tell you things that mean 50 of your questions are useless?
You steer the ship but she will pilot it.
