Subject: Asking for a lower price for a dress?

We are new to this and we have found a dress we are interested in. The owner says it is about 8 years old, but the owner is asking for $950 USD for it. We think this is too high; is it fair to ask them if they will take half that? The dress also shows some obvious wear.

We are not looking for a top-of-the-line dress. This is in the dancer's size and her preferred colors. Was told by friends dress is too expensive but we really like it. We are trying to avoid "ruffling feathers!"

That price is definitely too high and yes you should ask if they will accept half. Because it is an older dress, I would also highly recommend that you get approval from your teacher to buy it first, just because some TC's perfer their dancers in a certain kind of dress as it may not be appropriate for your dancers level. Lots of people are not realistic about prices of their old dresses. Rule of thumb is that a dress loses 1/3 of value each year. So even a $2500 would be below $100 after 8 years. Agree to check with TC - both on style and price. (NT) -- ., 14:40:32 09/27/17 Wed

- Did you get crystals on the dress? I always found it better to just get the dress and apply the crystals myself so that you aren't paying for the time it takes to apply them, plus it lowers the value of the dress for any customs duty payable.
