EQL clubs sold well at first, but would not sustain sales. I owned a set, and here are some observations.

All clubs were the length of a conventional six iron, and they were weighted to compensate for the standard length. The heads were weighted differently than a conventional set, and cast specifically for the purpose intended.

The clubs didn't necessarily hit to 10 yard separations. That was OK though, as you just figured out how far each club hit.

I could hit a conventional three iron about five yards farther, but all clubs were deadly accurate because you hit from the same position, and had the same swing each time.

The swingweight would get thrown off by thick SA grips, but if you could lead tape the clubs they would be great SA clubs...adding another dimension of control.

I didn't have the woods, but a friend had the driver, which was 43 inches long (as I remember) and heavy. 43 inches used to be the standard years ago. He would just belt them out there with this short, heavy driver, and I don't think he has given up that driver in spite of the newer technologies today.

If Tommy Armour had held onto the EQL concept I think it would have flown eventually.
