Subject: Club Modification

My clubmaker is skeptical about adding 1-1/4" to my graphite shafts due to making the swingweight too light. Comments? Is it better to add the length and then add weights to the clubhead or leave the length the same? I received my Big-Grips today. They are smaller in diameter than I expected. Do they expand over tape and the club to make them a larger diameter when on the club?
