Please excuse the above response to your request for help. If you're new to this dg, you might want to just ignore (or better yet don't even read) anything by ole Voldemort (i.e. "he who must not be named").

Now as to your problem. It's quite common in new NGers. For most what you are experiencing is your old CG rotation habits creeping in. When swinging the longer clubs you're trying to hit them harder (even if you're trying your best NOT to hit them harder than your short clubs, you indeed ARE swinging harder, you can't help it...) When swinging harder it's very easy for the old rotational habits to creep in, especially while on the course.

The best solution is to really focus on limiting your hip and shoulder rotation. Obviously you have to rotate to hit a golf ball, but a mental image of no rotation can help you reduce the rotation back to a manageable level, as you do with your short irons.

Why do you either block or pull? When you subconciously realize that you're over rotating you automatically inhibit your release of the club resulting in a block. When you don't sense the over-rotation, a pull is the result.
