Subject: Butt of grip and right forearm

To those of you successfully using NG, BGG, IMA, etc., is there a common agreement that the swing plane is correct if in following through after impact the butt end of the club would hit your right forearm if you were very choked up or there was an extension on the grip to check this? I am fairly new to SA and I discovered that if in a choked up position with the butt of the grip hitting my formarm on the follow through I began hitting the ball much better. Feels a little strange, but straight and good distance. When I stopped choking up, and imagined a plane where the butt would hit my forearm the result were the same. Have I been missing this all this time or is this idyosyncratic to my swing?
