Subject: Swing screwed up; can't return
In reply to: Herbert 's message, "Re: Always interested in the pro swing puzzle" on 20:46:26 03/17/02 Sun

Hah! I couldn't agree with your more. It is probably the #1 reason that golfers continue with SA. Their swing is so screwed-up their is no return. It's like burning the boats.

There is a plumber, at my course, who swings HSS, and learned it on his own...without knowing about HSS. He is one of the best amateur golfers in this area for playing once a week in league. He regularly breaks 40 for nine holes. I have seen first hand how good you can get with HSS. However, not for me.

I, too, had a problem in the backswing, downswing area, i.e., tying them both together properly.

Here is what I finally figured out, as concerns Moe. I know that Moe's swing works because of extreme position mechanics. In fact, you have always stated that his swing was conventional, except for extreme positions, and for much of the swing that fact is true.

I decided one day to really go extreme, and I spread my feet from toe to toe about 45 inches (watch you don't hurt your groin when swinging!). This position showed me everything about Moe, and forced the proper backswing and forward swing.
