All the Chaz is saying is that he understands what you are saying Dave, but NG is basing its swing on Moe being the first NGer. Thusly, you would assume some logic that NG utilizes the same kind of mechanics that Moe is using. Of course, as every serious student of SA will confirm, the NG approach is not the Moe approach.

At one time, I, too, thought Moe's swing was arms generated, when nothing could be farther from the truth. It's an important distinction to understand. On the backswing, Moe turns his hips into that stumped right leg, and he is recoiling (rotating hips hips; not sliding) out of that right leg, onto a bent left leg, with the leading edge of the leading hip being the pivotal point for this rotational movement. The motion that I am describing happens at least three frames ahead of his arms swinging.

It is true that you can swing the arms, in a primarily pusher motion, and the body will anticipate this motion. I suppose Croker would be the most famous of this type of swing, but the body really doesn't get ahead, and if anything, maybe, 1/2 frame.

You see, it is true that if the arms swing the body will react with a slide and a brace...so you could get some consistency, some logic in your mind, with that concepto.e., with your argument.

However, the reality is that the lower unit is not sliding. It is rotating. The left knee moves forward as the result of a rotation of the hips coming out of the stumped right leg and rotating onto the bent left leg. The important part is to understand that the leading edge of the left hip is the pivot point of that rotation.

Once you understand this, you understand that there is absolutely no consistency with any kind of grass cutting drill...there is no logic to this idea, AS IT PERTAINS TO MOE. Now, as it pertains to whatever NG is trying to fabric this time around, well, that is something else again.

That's the beauty of the internet Dave. The serious students of Moe have found each other on the internet, and we have figured out these primary moves. It would be difficult for NG to market this type of swing, based on their past performance...too much admittance of wrongness so NG will market a different concept of SA swinging.

Hope this helps in your logic.
