I don't know if an extra 10 yards is worth an extra $400 (at least it's not for me), but I do know persimmon is the clubhead material of choice for me. I have a Hogan Speed-Slot persimmon driver which I refinished and reshafted with a Grafalloy ProLite 4.5 ultralight shaft, all bought on eBay. I had to add extra lead powder in the head in order to get some head feel. This club hits the ball very solidly with a lower trajectory than usual (good in the wind). And the feel - like heaven!! Okay, so I lost a few yards - big deal!
