You say that it will create a steep angle of attack. It might if you swing conventionally with a Natural
Golf setup. ( By the way I am glad you raised an issue instead of just ad homing) The fact of the matter is, is
that it promotes a shallow angle of attack. If you simply
keep your eye on the ball which in turn will keep your
shoulders parallel to the line of flight, the club has no
choice but to start back and down ( just like Moe does).
Since your elbow is bent, the powerful tricept
muscle comes into play and helps drive your left side
through the ball while your right side starts to release
right from the top. ( This is NOT casting) If you were to
strike a blow with your lead elbow, you would not keep your
arm straight, but bend at the elbow.
All LPGers are also NGers. The only differences I
can see are that my stance is a little narrower, I bent
my left arm, and I do not move laterally quite as much, I
do more of a squatting move.(Moe squats and moves to his
left)
If you take the club back bent your left elbow to get your hands as close to your rear shoulder as you can,
then start your downswing and stop at waist height
you will see that your left arm is already fully extended.
Since I am older and not so strong to begin with
I would be glad to demonstrate my swing to you on a course
where distance is not a factor. On such a course I am
capable of shooting a sub par round. As a matter of fact
I am the only member of my senior men's club that has shot
a par round and sub par round in the last six years.
Do not bother looking up my handicap as I spent all
of July in the hospital and lost a lot of strength which I
am just starting to regain.
Actually if we met at a range someplace I could demonstrate very easily that this swing does not dig holes.
If Harry Vardon and Walter Hagen together with a whole
lot of golfing notables bent their left elbow and were
still considered "conventional" golfers, then I am certainly
also an NGer. ( See the book, golf A to Z published in 1935)
There are a number of ironies here, we have rejected
CG and yet we have not rejected one of the central notions
of CG, the straight left arm. (By the way Moes arm in not
now perfectly straight when he takes it back)
Also we have just concluded that NG is superior to
CG, well can't LPG be superior to NG. According to many
testimonials it is at least on a par with NG. Look at the
endorsements of my method at my site. Do you think these
people are "digging holes". Also it seems from many postings
that NG hasn't quite gotten their act together. I think
that they ought to take a good look at what Sanders of
Big Grip is doing. That guy is very good. Also a method
like NG is so good, that if people set up correctly and just
swing, the method will eventually work in spite of faulty
instruction, not because of it.
If you like KISS then you're gonna love KSS. Check it
out, it IS NG.
