They're essentially landless when they cannot possibly survive on that land without having a big chunk of cash to buy all the stuff we get off our land for free, often with little effort and relying very heavily on wantoks. The wantok system makes us even more passive. Maybe I should have said land + wantoks keeps us from getting fired up.

On the other hand, looks like some fired up person has appeared on this forum, hope it wasn't because they got pissed off at my comments!!!!
