I am not so sure that the riots in LA were really a result of the difference between the haves and the have nots. I think that there are classes of people in all societies that are too layed back (kind word for lazy). They think the world owes them a living. The world (welfare) does give them a living of sorts. But all it takes is some little incident to justify doing what they all think about everyday. How can I get something for nothing? The incident happens and they act on this desire. To take something from someone else(nice words for steal) In Png this could very well happen, but when it does it will not be the villagers who start it. We have already determined though much discussion on here that most of the villagers are satified with the way things are. What will happen is the true jealously that seems to be so prevelent in PNG culture and personality will show it's colors and like the jealousy that occurs between tribes will surface among the educated. This will see the sacking and looting of all the stors of the major cities first by the educated who should know better and then followed by the villagers. Should this occur all hope for a bright future in PNG will be lost. PNG is not strong enough or unified enough to survive and what you will see is a control anarcist government. The solution to this is to somehow make the educated of PNG start working together in harmony and get rid of all the pent up jealousy. Something they have never before done.
