Subject: DON'T WORRY ABOUT DISTRACTORS

There is anger, yes. But where does it come from? Could it be that they see the writing on the wall? Could it be that they feel threatened that their extravagance will finally be curtailed? Could it be that they feel that two more years of their corpulent lifestyle is all they have left?

Carry on your investigations and do not be side-tracked by the one-line drivel that you meet here. A couple of them could come from the sons or close relatives of those that we hold responsible for the demise of our beautiful country. Maybe others are just jealous that all they have against you are their single sentences.

If they do not realise it now, then i do not blame them. Many have not had the opportunity to live in a PNG that was far different from the destitution that presently characterises Port Moresby life. They would have no idea about life in pre 1975 PNG.

I lived in Port Moresby up to 1980 and by that time the old guard was being gradually replaced by a new breed of greed-driven egotists, the most infamous of them still plays the puppet master, twirling our PM as if he was a strand of Spaghetti. Look at the progress of the peace talks on Bougainville..it has all but come to a halt, and for some very suspicious reasons. It seems that the puppet masters are out once more and many of them expect to cash in on the rejuvenation of of Bougainville.

If many in your group feel like Ona, then you are not alone, because thousands must now feel like him, betrayed by those that we entrusted with our future. Only those that have had the chance to live elsewhere see the difference between where PNG would be now compared to it actual position today.

Ona has demonstrated that armed insurrection is an option for those that feel betrayed. The proliferation of high powered arms, especially in the highlands of PNG, also suggests that many more feel that it is the only recourse available to them, especially if the rule of law, long held as the only remaining hope of light in PNG, is compromised by the Chief Justice himself.

The mishandling of the Bougainville issue demonstrated incompetency of many of our politicians, which made them sitting ducks for the spinners that operate with impunity within in the upper echelons of power. They are so inept and bereft of any principles that they sink head high into the mud of deceit that have been left for them by the puppet masters before they realize that they have been turned into robots. But by then they are powerless to come clean. Only very few of them have stuck to their guns, but their efforts are no match for those that seek to keep our head below the high tide mark.

When faced with these situation, it is not surprising that there is a simmering movement within the NGI to rid themselves of this liability created on the mainland. In my mind there is better chance for them if they went it alone. The only problem is to convince men like Ona that unity with the rest of NGI would be for the best. This alternative is better than Bougainville going it alone. They can share resources and manpower. They already form the hub of the agribusiness in PNG, while those parasites that wheel and deal in the capital, contribute nothing at all to the wealth creation. When Bougainville rejoins New Ireland and New Britain in exporting..the cash flow generated in the NGI region will overshadow any of the current cashflows in more populous provinces.

Our brothers in the highlands..whose coffee industry was once a promising alternative to minerals, have been left in a stagnant state by the lack of maintenance of the highlands highway, their lifeline to export markets overseas. Given this, it is not surprising that many have turned to the high-value, high-risk business of intercropping their coffee plots with spak brus, presenting our police with another crime front, for which they lack resources to combat. And who would blame the growers? They are simply cashing in on an opportunity.
