Now come on. You know why the US had to support Russia with an infusion of cash through the IMF. This was the same place that for over fifty years was planning to seize control of the entire world through Nuclear force if necessary. When the communist governemnt fell something had to be done to attempt to get it going in a more democratic manner. Althought the immediate results seem to have been a clossal failure, the government continues to move towards democracy and the immediate threat of world destruction has eased. Do the tax payers of America cuss the Russians for wasteing the money we gave them? You bet we do, everyday. But we had no choice in the matter. It was either show some faith and support for the new governemnt or go back to dealing with some modern day Stalin. Whether this will prevail remains to be seen. The Russian people are not exactly predicible in their actions and could rise up in terror again. But at least now they will have to start all over again to build armies capable of world domination. With China slowly emerging into the world order, I doubt the Russians will ever again be the treat they once were. So I guess we could say that was money well spent. Too bad the Russian people didn't benefit from it. SOund famiilar?
