That was true back in the 70's and early 80's.Countried like Indonesia could threaten countrys by shear numbers in miltary uniform. That doesn't work in todays world. The US now has the speed and capibilty to fly an entire regiment around the world within 24 hours. They would never want to have to do this but the fact that they can is a deterent to anyone who thinks hostility. The UN has become a much more agressive peace maker as well. So when one country tries to start trouble, they are no longer just fighing the victimn country, they have to fight the entire world. Indonesia just found that out in East Timor. The world societies no longer have time or the patients allow these small scumages between countries to go on, although some of that crap in Africa seems to have the peacemakers baffler to hell right now. That is becasue they are civil wars and it is too hard to identify who the enemy is.
