If foreigners, World Bank, blah, blah, blah is bad for us, then who was it who gave the tok orait for them to come in? Having scapegoats is very comforting, but it also lets us ignore the real issues and problems. A villager can sit, empowered with the latest radio programme on the evils of the World Bank, and spout those reasons off at length.... while his pigs sit, unfenced, spreading disease in the village that affects that fellow's own, personal development.

Sometimes we're like that. We're too busy blaming others for our problems, when the fact is that we got our independence in 1975.

We lost our economic independence around 1988 because of our own stupidity, not the evil maneuverings of the World Bank.
