You ask, how come everything was trashed?
You know the answer, deep down. You really do know the answer to that question! (I think someone already told you the answer too somewhere on this forum, either this board or a previous one!!!). That's why you've got to take culture into account! Most of the drought food shortage was a con job, people were not starving. They left the garden food when the gardens failed and ate what they've eaten in the forests for the last donkey's thousands of years.
A lot of us have been so westernised it's hard for us to accept the answer too!!!!
