This forum established after an incident of witch hunts and tracing attempts was observed to occur against students who spoke out on a topic others wanted silenced, on another forum. Our site is dedicated to those students.

Subject: Witch hunting

It has been suggested that new topics be introduced for discussion on this form. After I read the comment below entitled "Correction" I began to think about what it said. It stated, "This forum was started over the KSI scandal and s@m witch hunting those who wanted an accounting from Tony Smare."

Ok, that is a good answer. What I am wondering about is, what exactly is construded a "Witch Hunt" and what is not? I don't know the answer to this.I never participated in the incident mentioned above, so I don't know the details. The question to be considered is, is "Witch Hunting" a standard practice for politians in PNG in lieu of a better form of checks and balances within the government structure? Do politians find it easier and more accepted by the voters to try to find things to discredit their opponents rather to get into power by doing good deeds for the country? It seems that everytime PNG gets a new Prime Minister within months either he or someone in his cabinet comes under fire for some alleged activity. Are these activities real or are they something blown out of proportion by the opposition? If in most cases the corruption is real then how do the voters of PNG find and elect honest politians? Is there a way to make the opposing parties work together for a better PNG instead of battling all the time and wasting so much energy that would be better spent solidifying the country?

Food for thought.
