Your statesments here concerning political appointees are probably true and definitly scary. So the discussion needs to move towards what can be done in PNG to break this political barrier? How can this government be cleaned out from top to bottom and restarted in a democratic way? With out this it looks as though things will never change and the entire country will back slide into something other than a democracy. This has happened before in other countries. Morovia is a good example. This African country was started by former slaves from the US after the civil war. For over one hundred years it was a model democracy based on the American system. Then anarchy took over and one day a guy came to power and canceled the constitution and the country has been nothing but a troubled hot spot ever since. Is PNG headed this way? How can it be stopped and turned around? Will it take an intervention form the Austrailians to come in and clean up the mess and start over? (I do not advocate this, it is just a question)
