No jealousy! The kid is explosive and defends. Not a pg. No J and suspect handle. I know the guy's at CTK and Stony Brook was the highest offer he had. Being only 20 pts. away doesn't scare away higher profiled programs. If anything it excites them because alot of kid's sign that are over 100 pts. away. Nice try! It is tough to be successful at DI as a 5'10 2G who doesn't shoot it or isn't a cold blooded scorer! But what does the Czar know!

I generally agree with your assessment, but I am fairly certain that if Beauford winds up in the America East, he is going to have a very nice career. He was overlooked, in large part, because of his size, and because, like you said, he is basically a 5'10'' shooting guard. HOWEVER, he excelled in the best high school league in the country, and is extremely athletic and a great defender. I don't care how tall he is; he plays three inches taller and has the strength to body up against anyone at that position in the league.

Whether it was grades or size, the bigger schools missed on this one. If he can clear the academic hurdles, he will be very good in this conference. You know that and I know that.

If he preps, bigger fish will come after him, Hofstra among them in the New York area.

Beauford is in some ways like another undersized shooting guard from New York City who should have been recruited at a much higher level, and I was very vocal about this player's abilities last year. His name is Keydren Clark.

Your comparison to Clark is way off base, they are not similar. Beauford is a great athlete with a solid body but his handle is no where near Clark's and that's what makes Clark so successful.
If Beauford qualifies he will have a fine career in the AE but how and where will Stony Brook play him. If he's a PG Santiago and the other new kid are on the bench. If Munir plays the Point and Clark the 2G, Clark may never see the ball and the Bigs will never see an entry pass.

I don't need to be told that my comparison is way off base; I've probably seen both of these players twice as many times as you have. The one commonality between the two is that they are undersized combo guards who were overlooked just for that reason. Beyond that, Clark is a pure shooter, and Beauford a pure athlete. There aren't too many similarities past that point. But my point was that they are two undersized combos who deserved to be recruited at a much higher level. Not that their games were similiar in some other regard.

And FYI, it is NOT Clark's ballhandling ability that makes him so good. He is an adequate ballhandler, not a great ballhandler. It's his ability to shoot off the dribble, with hands in his face, or to connect in otherwise difficult situations. He's also a terrific passer with very good vision. But he is not the amazing ballhandler that you are making him out to be.

As far as Beauford, Stony Brook will play him off the ball. He will earn minutes. His defensive capabilities and athleticism will make him a valuable reserve.

I don't see why we can't have a slight difference of opinion?
Never did I say Clark was an "amazing" ballhandler what I said was the difference (in my humble opinion) was that Clark has a much better handle than Beauford.
And by the way don't think that you are the only one who has seen kids play. You would be surprised at what I do for a living!!!!
