Subject: Vermont a bust in AE Baseball tourney

For the second straight year, the AE tourney ended in a huge dissappointment for Vermont. In the last 2 years, Vermont's hitting has just fallen apart. It's very sad to see, since they had the best pitching in the entire conference.

Hopefully, next year will be better. They will still have a great pitching staff, it will be their offense that will need to improve next year, if they expect to advance.

Saturday's NH Union Leader had a story that UNH was potentially bringing back baseball. Any thoughts?

I just glanced over the articles, but my sense is this is just more of the political BS that goes on between the state legislature and UNH. The odds of this happening are probably pretty low.

There is also a story in today's Fosters on the same topic:

Foster's UNH Baseball Article

From a lot of talk I recall from 1997, the administration never gave any group the chance to raise funds to save either sport. Hopefully, it will be a formality to raise the matching funds discussed! I mean it is plain un-American not to play baseball at the flagship university of one of the 50 states!! Even one in the snow belt!!!!

At least they haven't completely dismantled the baseball stadium, but the infield dirt is now grass. The bigger issue will probably be softball because I don't recall a true softball field on campus.

I thought the university did a study that said it would cost more money than the article states. I'll try to find it during the week.

America East would benefit greatly from baseball and softball at UNH, and UNH would better postion themselves for the future should conference re-organization take place.
