So then if Marnika is not a Catamount, what is Vermont going to do with that scholarship? Would they take a DI transfer like maybe UCONN's Hilton Armstrong, Seton Hall's Alex Gambino or UNLV's Omari Pearson? I would like more info on Matt Hanson's situation? I think it is great the UVM players are scholars and good citizens. It is applaudable that Vermont runs an exceptionally clean and model program. I just don't like Tom Brennan as a person. If Steve Alford, Bill Self, Mike Davis, Tubby Smith, Bo Ryan or Phil Marteli was the Vermont coach I would have nothing negative to say about the program. I think TB's radio show is disgusting and demeaning to UVM. Tom is an alcholic who doesn't take his job or life seriously. He makes his assistants do the work and he takes all the credit. No head coach in America is lazier than Tom Brennan. He is a fake person and very selfish. His sideline antics are worst than Bobby Knight and childish. Tom sets no example at games for children who need to behave. He makes parenting more difficult because he never gets reprimanded for anything he says or does. No doubt Vermont was the best team in a weak conference last season. They got lucky to some degree playing BU on day inwhich BU didn't come to play and Dennis Wolff had taken the day off.
The question remains can Vermont keep its program as one of New England's best year and year out? Will they take their success for granted or work harder to be better in 2003-2004? Also, with many Atlantic 10 teams going to the big east, is it conceivable with President Fogel's vision that Vermont will make a commitment to athletics across the board and possibly join the Atlantic 10? The 9,000 seat arena will definitely draw larger crowds playing better competition. Vermont athletics is enjoying it's happy days. President Fogel has revamped the purpose of athletics at UVM from being recreational to being directional in the sense of serious competition and winning. He is unequivocally making athletics the front porch of the university. These are simply days to remember at UVM!

Hilton Armstrong is transferring? He played at Peekshill High with Rashard Turner didn't he? Is he looking to go to an America East school or higher?

I can't gage what really will happen with Hilton Armstrong.
He only averaged about 10 to 15 minutes a game last season.
Now considering UCOnn is bringing in Ed Nelson(Georgia Tech transfer Pf or Center) Ryan Thompson a 6-7 juco forward and possibly Charlie Villanueva, where will Hilton get minutes?
I think he is over his head at UConn and should transfer to Atlantic 10 school. With Vermont being as good as any programs in the A-10 right now with the exception of Temple, Dayton and Xavier, Vermont could offer him an NCAA tournament bound program with excellent academics and caring coaches. No Vermont coach is evil like Jim Calhoun. Vermont doesn't overrecruit. Plus, with Sheftic and Jones graduating after Hilton's year sitting out, he could potentially complement Coppenrath with a low post threat. Patrick Filein is a well renowned big man coach. He did an excellent job last season.

Let's be careful with the statement of "Vermont being as good as any programs in the A-10 right now..." I still believe that the Boston University team that lost against UVM in the America East Championship was THE BETTER TEAM, and I wouldn't say that B.U. was as good as any A-10 team. The Atlantic 10 Conference in RPI ranking is still way ahead of the America East. The weakest team in the Atlantic 10 is probably Fordham (that's precisely why BU's Coach Wolff didn't take the offer), and I bet they will be a tough contender against any top America East team, including Vermont.

Dayton, Xavier, Temple and other would smack Vermont. Norhteastern will be the most talented team in the AE next year. They probably won't win it because of chemistry problems. Marcus Barnes will be the best player. NOt even close. He is much much better than little T.J.!
