Re: Vermont roots-- the cupboard is bare with qualified candidates that have spent time in the state. Fifield has absolutely zero NCAA D-I experience and Brennan's sister has little. I understand the four that they interviewed all have been with D-I programs awhile.
For the same reason, I also guarantee that Beaney or McShane will not be finalists for the hockey job. People in Vermont need to quit looking for the 'best candidate with some sort of local connection' and look for the best candidate. That's why UVM has a quality AD coming in, too.

Re: Tom Brennan and staff chalking it up as a win in terms of not having to compete ...-- What an idiotic statement. At Vermont, they get along. This isn't UConn, Hartford, Maine or even B.U. where the two programs kill each other over petty issues (keeping score). How Cieplicki got along with Brennan was a big reason why Boeheim strongly endorsed him, too. Basketball is basketball and they help each other. Example-- this is why David Hehn and Tiffany Spinka are at UVM.
