I just got a copy of the S&S article on 1-AA football.

The guy who wrote it is probably smoking some crack.

To pick NU #1 is simply foolish, they're probably a contender in the A-10, just not THE prohibitive favorite. Let's win a playoff game before we annoint the Huskies title holders.

UMass is picked 8th, Delaware is picked 15th, and Villanova is picked 22nd.

Where's Maine???

He doesn't have Rich Musinski from William & Mary on his pre-season All-America team, and from what I saw of him, in person, and on TV, he's one of the best out there.

Fordham is picked 11th, Colgate is picked 13th, and Penn is picked 18th.

Gary Jones of Albany is a pre-season All America at running back. Dennis Carter of Maine is a pre season All America at defensive tackle.

Maine should be and probably will be picked middle of the pack in the pre-season coaches poll. They have to break in a new QB and find some leadership after the departure of Eaton and Cooper. I'm personally picking them #3 in the A-10, but expect them to be picked #4 - #7 by most.

I've never seen such a crazy pick (NU) for the pre-season #1 and National Championship pick. I mean we are talking about programs like Montana, Georgia Southern and McNeese State....programs that have a ton of tradition, returning talent, and a recent track record of playoff success.

The Sports Network released its 1-AA pre season picks...

Delaware is #6.
NU is #8.
UMass is #15
Villanova is #17
Hofstra is #21
Maine is #26

I think Nova and Hofstra may be ranked a bit high.

Maine plays #4 Montana, #21 Hofstra, and #15 UMass in the first 4 weeks......I guess we'll know early if Maine is a contender.
