Though I am a little bumbed in that I thought Hartford put together quite a good package(especially financially) I actually think our AE leaders might be showing some foresight that we have lacked for years. Mind you I don't think the tourney was run very well this past year but just having the event from Friday to Sunday this year seems to make many of my other complaints more negligable.

The higher ups are very concerned about BU jumping to the A-10. Letting them secure the tourney really puts them in the catbird seat in terms of representing the AE in the NCAA(though no one must have told UVM last year). Maybe if we had guaranteed Hofstra the tourney for a few years this might have quenched Hofstra's thirst for success and we possibly might never had lost them(albeit to a higher level eventually...A-10).

I wouldn't be suprised if the vote went like this.

BU votes BU

NU votes BU..home game..no cost..no travel..fan support

Maine votes BU..Hartford,BingU too far for fans..UVM too tough at home

UNH votes BU..see Maine

Albany votes BU..not really sure where they would vote..just thinking BU by going with majority so just like in politics they are owed something later.

BingU votes BingU

Hartford votes Hartford

Stonybrook votes Harford..closer for fans..might go with majority though as like Albany could always say remember when..

UVM votes UVM

UMBC votes BU..when your new definately go with the majority.

Now that the actual voting has taken place, I'd like to remind all posters of Dane96's comments many weeks ago... Remember, Dane96 was the one who emphatically said Binghamton had already paid off Monasch and that the tournament was coming to Binghamton - done deal. Those will also recall that I was quick to blast Dane96 at the time, explaining to him that it was an AD vote, and that nothing was done until May 7. He refused to acknowledge that Monasch doesn't make the decision, and blasted the Commish for prostitution (I believe that was the word used). After waiting patiently for this day, I can now say...

I need to hear from Dane96 right now. I need to read his words to the tune of...

"I'm sorry for my inaccurate and foolish statements"
"I had no knowledge base for that subject and numerous more subjects that I pretend to know about"
"I am, quite frankly, an idiot."

I find it so amusing that, in addition to Dane96, NUBoy and others were so quick to hammer the AE brass for handing the tournament over to the greedy new member who doesn't have the booming city, is too far away from the HUGE AE fan base of Boston (ha ha)and hasn't paid its dues, yet when the final votes are counted, Boston is the pick. Yes, that same school who has been BLASTED repeatedly on this board for its lack of interest in putting on a first-rate BASKETBALL tournament.

Eat crow Dane96 and NUBoy - and lots of it. You have successfully made fools of yourselves. Enjoy the big city atmosphere, your family vacation, and your "old school" host site. Let's see you nail Monasch for this one...
