Subject: NU to play Red Sox

Went to the Sox-Yankees game this week with some NU folks, and among other info, it was revealed that NU has signed a deal to play the Boston Red Sox next March at City of Palms Park in Florida.

BC had played the Sox for the past 10-15 years due to John Harrington's relationship with BC (he was an accounting professor there before joining the Red Sox), and now that he's out, and NU is a corporate sponsor of the Red Sox, we were able to negotiate games with the Sox.

Won't be much of a game, but it's great PR for the school as the game is always televised back north.

A guy who works for me pitched in the game for BC in the mid-1990s and he has on his resume "Struck out Nomar Garciaparra and Mo Vaughn on consecutive at bats." Granted, Nomar was in A-Ball at the time but it makes for good reading.

There is talk of putting one on gonu.com, but for now, the only place to go is to the message board for the Northeastern News.
