Subject: Great week for UA!- Who said the SUNY's aren't broad based!

Albany had a great week, setting an absurd AE Championship record with 230 points, on their way to capturing both the INDOOR and OUTDOOR TITLES THIS YEAR. The UA woman finished in second.

The lax men are playing Princeton in the NCAA's, while the woman's softball team secured the second seed in the AE tourney (with mostly frosh and sophs). The men's baseball team kept their hopes alive by stealing one from Maine, and are now in fifth place.

Not bad for a second year AE program (4th in DI)!

The NU women won the AE Outoor title, to go with their Indoor title, and the men finished second. Should help with the CC points.

Incidentially, the NU track teams are getting a lot of attention on campus due to their incredible lack of funding. Given the success of the programs over the last 10 years, it's almost a catch 22 with the track programs at NU, why give more money when they win and are successful, or would more money make them even MORE successful.

O'Brien's committed to get an additional $800K a year in funding (good luck Dave, if you get it, you're a hero in my books) from internal and external sources to assist with programs like this.

While I have taken shots at "the SUNYs", it is mostly directed at Binghamton "We're sucking up hard to everyone we can to get good at hoops" University. Albany does have the most well-rounded program of the three newcomers...

LOL...I know...I was being a sarcastic ass! Thanks for the compliment though. I did forget our women's volleyball team (mostly frosh and soph) that came out of nowhere to finish in fourth! Didn't mean to slight them!

[> Maine finishes #3....in 3 sports -- mainejeff, 11:42:22 05/05/03 Mon

Men's and women's track, as well as softball. A possible #1 finish in baseball too should help them move up in the Commish Cup standings.

P.S. - Thanks Go Cats Go for adding this edit function ;)
