Subject: Lacrosse Championship

Has anyone followed Lacrosse this season. Although none of the teams are that great any of the 4 in the playoffs can win it and get the automatic bid. I think the teams will be motivated as they know next year UMBC will be coming in and be a notch above any of the current teams. Also does anyone know if Quinnipiac will be invited back as an affiliate member next year, as they will add the extra team with UMBC?

I think Q will be kept for another year at least. I think they may be dropped after that, allowing more OOC games. UA has a poor record, but remember they played 4 (lost all four) top 15 teams at the time they played them. I think all four are still in the top 20. I forsee a final of UA-HARTFORD which will be an intriquing rematch (Kevin Rae didnt have a great game last time...but Hartford is tough). Either way, I dont see any of the four doing much in the first round of the NCAA's. I do see the leagues future as being very bright w/ the UMBC addition. Great recruiting ploy to say you play against a yearly Top 15 team in your conference. Plus most of NY and NEW England is a hotbed for lax!

Dane 96,

On a side note, I went to HS with Bobby Gabriel's sister, really cool girl. Stony Brook is an enigma as they play in a lacrosse hotbed and have a brand new stadium. They should be able to elevate to a consistent Top 20 team and Albany and BingU should follow. Vermont has potential but too many stoners up there.
