Re: Maine has 7 footer visiting -- Dane Pound, 12:14:09 04/03/03 Thu
I'll assume I am the overzealous fan since I posted it on the Albany board. In my defense, it was reported in the Times Union that the Danes were looking at Castleberry.
BTW-I'll take overzealous as a compliment.

You should take it as a compliment we need a lot more fans like you.
But sometimes reporters try to hard to figure out what's going on and speculate or guess and then put it in print with no substance. As far as I know coaches aren't allowed to comment on prospective recruits until they sign.

He is visiting Maine 4/11 and Rider 4/18. Those 2 as well as Richmond and Monmouth have been recruiting him all season long. UTEP & Eastern Michigan have just gotten involved but while he is open to listening he is probably sticking with the teams that have been with him all season long. He is know as very inconsistent. He will actually go out to shoot the 3.

Albany may have been looking at a couple of guys at Dixie, but Castleberry has Craig Forth numbers - 4 ppg, 3.7 rpg in 10 minutes per game as a JC sophomore - sounds like he's still a project.

7' players are hard to judge Dixie is an excellent JC finishing 3rd at Hutchinson, National tourney.
Castleberry in 4 games had very mixed results
Game 1 - Three Rivers - DNP
Game 2 - Schoolcraft - 10 min., 1 reb
Game 3 - San Jacinto(semis loss) - 25 min.,21pts and 8 reb
Game 4 - Georgia Premier (Consol win) - 15min. 11pt,6reb
I believe he played behind some very athletic frontcourt players.

According to a couple posters on Marist board, he left the Red Foxes unhappy over playing time his freshman year there.
His 21 in JUCO semifinals was season high for him. Overall, he was eighth on the team in minutes played.

>>The kid is a stiff. At 7 feet he averaged 1.8ppg and 1.2 rpg at Marist! This year he averaged 3ppg and 3rpg and played against no height! He's not half as good as ROWE! NOt even close!
Interesting. The one question mark for Maine has been
