Ha-ha, yes, it was so, and I don't know why too.
On the summer when I was 10 I was in the one of the middle groups where most for the children was one year older then me. I didn't know and was not interested if there were 11 or 12 years old boys in the younger group. But on the next year, when I was already 11, I was assigned to the younger group (where most of children were 10 years old) again and there were few boys who were already 12. I remember that on the first bathing day on that summer, a classmate of one of the 12 years old boy came to us before bath time and told with a big smirk, that the girls of his group are preparing to go to wash "malyshey" (they called all groups who were bathed by them as "malyshi"). In fact of course it was not true and the girls were from the oldest group as always.
