No worries, Roddy. I'm a bit younger than you guys, although we did have a tape of Duane Eddy when I was a kid. I love Rebel Rouser, and most of the other stuff, but Peter Gunn never really did anything for me. I still love Duane Eddy though.

No doubt you've listened to Johnny Kidd and the Pirates before?


Probably the best line up of Pirates -

Johnny Kidd (Fred Heath): Vocals.
Mick Green: Guitar.
Johnny Spence: Bass.
Frank Farley: Drums.

These guys were from Southern England, so had a slightly harder driving sound than the bands from up North. The recording of "Peter Gunn" is from the late '70's, when they were more of a pub rock band. Having said that, I reckon the best version of Peter Gunn is by the Hellecasters. It's sheer madness, but I won't post it here because it was recorded in the '90's.
