In reply to: T'yin and Viouth 's message, "The greenrider, seeing D'tir occupied with his weyrmate, decides to take on the next lesson." on 12:02:05 02/09/02 Sat

Kalya settled herself on her gold's back, getting used to the position, which she no longer found as awkward already. Ready, love? she asked Layath.
Ready as ever.
Kalya felt a knot appear in her stomach and gulped. She felt as if she had to stay in flight with Layath for a full ten minutes, or she wouldn't live up to standard-
I'm the one doing the flying, Layath reminded her gently. And you and I don't have to be the best right away. There's time for that aplenty.
Kalya smiled, the knot evaporating. You're right as always, Lay. I guess that's one of my faults...I'm a perfectionist who isn't good at admitting she can be wrong. And I guess I'm too single-minded. And I'm predjudiced, if someone's once lost my good opinion-
Lya, your faults are my faults. I'd like to maintain my good self-image. Kalya laughed at Layath's comment and patted her lifemate with love on the back. "Let's just try our hardest, dear."

Layath crouched down and when Kalya gave the command, sprung into the air, her broad pinions bringing her up with each powerful strokes. With a bugle of triumph, Layath let the wind cushion her and buoy her up to reach the top of the mark, even going a little higher. "D'you think T'yin will notice?" she asked, hurrying to tell Layath to go down a little.
I don't know about T'yin...but I think Viouth did, Layath replied, slightly wincing. Ah well, we have done well.

Soon Kalya had picked up the nuances of the rhythym, swaying back and forth slightly in the seat to make Layath more comfortable and have more wing movement.
Will this be easier when you're grown? Kalya asked.
I suspect.
With a downward hand motion Layath glided downward, doing a rather elegant -Kalya thought a tad show-offish- landing, claws barely tapping the ground and wings lifting up.
How long? Layath asked her rider.
Around nine and a half, I'd say.
Good, Layath replied, satisfaction for both her and her rider inherent in her voice.
