The number would NOT be different. They might go down to different places because of WMH, etc but the number of WQ should be the same or off by one due to odd number.

I think the number of WQ for both splits added is made equal to the number if one large group - the math doesn't always work out that way automatically. From there, I always thought they got divided evenly between the splits.
