Subject: Grades results

If a grade level competition has 10 dancers in it, aren't 5 supposed to be awarded? We were just at a feis and there were novice level competitions with 15 or so dancers in them and only top 5 places awarded. Seems crazy to me. Even prelim places half! Weird that a novice comp wouldn't. Are there rules about this?

- Seems odd to me. Prelim level competitions place half. Why wouldn't a grade? These are young kids. I think it would help keep some into the sport to walk out with a medal. Awarding only 1/3 seems just wrong for those young ones! (NT) -- `, 13:59:52 06/10/23 Sat
Feis’ choice how to award grades. When picking feises, check historical results to see if it suits you. Most keep things running the same. (NT) -- All different, 21:26:52 06/03/23 Sat
Generally half in this region but judges award the places they feel have earned it and sometimes that’s less than half the dancers. (NT) -- 40% is standard in some regions, 22:30:39 06/04/23 Sun
We usually see top 3 or 4… they don’t often award more than 5 (NT) -- TWC, 09:47:30 06/05/23 Mon

  - Yes they usually only place 3-4 dancers ….sometimes a few more if there are “ties” (NT) -- WTC, 23:10:18 06/09/23 Fri
