The whole thing is pretty sad.
Part of his job is to make people happy. He appreciates his fans and loves writing and performing music. His stage persona is flirty, but most people understand that he is working.
Some people believe that he is only truly flirty with them. Some people believe that he is sending them messages during concerts, meet & greets or interviews.
If he is interested in talking to you, he will ask for your phone number. If he is interested in a date, he will ask you out.
It isn't that complicated.
