Actually, the entire Syracuse/Pitt crew was made up of regular MAAC officials. Ed Corbett, William Bush, Tom Lopes are all regulars in the MAAC. The way NCAA officiating works is that officials free-lance themselves out to all conferences. You'll see someone doing a Big East game one day and a MAAC game the next, and an SEC game the next. Will you see less refs to choose from if there is a busy Big East weekend? Of course, because they pay twice as much as the MAAC. Just like if you see a big SEC weekend, you'll get a ton of refs going for there because the SEC pays astronomically compared to others. But no ref is a "BIG EAST" ref versus MAAC ref. They all do every conference. Unless of course they are like NEC where most Big EASt schools won't want them.
