Looking at the chronicle of higher education, it is even more apparent your assumption may be wrong. Siena has a larger recruiting budget than SBU and its overall athletic dept budget is considerably bigger on the order of a million a year ( which is big when you’re talking 5 mill budgets) . Men’s Basketball team expenses were similar at approx a million a year. Although the chronicle doesn’t break out basketball coach salary , over all numbers would suggest that the pay is similar. The budget gap between top MAAC programs and bottom (expense wise) A10 programs is not as big as it was 4 or 5 years ago, probably one of the reasons why the A10 has been down lately. SBU, LaSalle and Duquesne all have very MAAC like budgets
