In reply to: Tony 's message, ""stepping stone" job" on 12:35:58 01/17/03 Fri

…I think the columnist meant “stepping stone” as a compliment. :)

I do agree that many A-10 jobs are stepping stones, while others are career killers. The fact is there are very few final destination type jobs out there anymore. When guys start moving up from ACC jobs (like Barnes, who moved up from the Big East to the ACC to the Big 12) almost any job can be considered a stepping stone.

Here is a partial list of true, absolute non-stepping stone jobs:

UNC
Duke
UCLA
Kentucky
Syracuse
Michigan (although I guess Frieder used it as a stepping stone)
Indiana
Maryland
Arizona
Kansas

I’m sure there are others. Can anyone add to this?
