Hello Jim,
Glad to hear of another Southwind Tunnel Dragster thats available...I will pass the word around...I also own a 1979 Southwind...I've owned four Jet boats since 1959 and the Southwind was the best! I would never part with it...It is the only jet that steers straight without a rudder...I had a copy made of "Going Places", a hull that broke all records in 1979...It ran 146 mph, with non official runs around 160...I have been trying to get a copy of this article, which I still have somewhere in my files...My boat is all original and still like new...It runs 100+ without nitro and all those gagets...I lost tract of the company when they sold the molds to Placecraft...It looks like they are gone forever??? I feel this is the best construction of a hull available, even today...Hang on to it! However, I will pass the word around up North...Ken

JUST FYI SOUTHWIND IS NOT GONE AND LOST FOREVER WE ARE CURENTLY WORKING ON REBUILDING IT AND STARTING REPRODUCTION OF THE TUNNEL DRAGSTER AGAIN IF YOU OR ANYBODY HAS ANY COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS YOU CAN DIRECT THEN TO ME AT WWW.SOUTHWINDJETBOATS.COM :)

Where or who did you get your information regarding Placecraft boats? The real story is simple: Bill Place owned a Southwind jet boat in the early days. After racing for several years, he went to the "drawing board" and designed his own hull...the Placecraft hull. So your statement "going places was given to them from the owner Don Jennings" is incorrect. The fact is Bill Place (my dad) bought a boat (not given) to him from Southwind boats, decided to make his OWN design and open a Company called Placecraft Boats. Therefore you statement: "going places
was given to the from the owner Don Jennings and they
made there own copy." is also incorrect do to the simple fact there was never a copy made of any boat that was made by Southwind, or anyone for that matters.
I hope this clears thing up.
