But... I think an important language issue in high Schools is students being given tasks such as grasscutting for using their tokples in their own free time.
As an Australian teaching in PNG I found it hard to not feel like a colonial masta when I had to follow school policy and punish students for using their own language. Maybe it's time students are encouraged to use their own language and the links to their culture it provides, not punished as though their own language is something to be put down as unworthy.
