Tough call on whether I'd trade your severe drought and extreme heat for guaranteed clear skies for fair season. While it's miserable to fetish on incredibly hot days, rain and cool weather are a fairground fetishist's worst enemy....our Skeletor....our Lex Luthor. You're paralyzed, resigned to doing nothing but waiting out precious hours standing under whatever canopy you can find.

We had a warm and dry June in the Upper Midwest, and whenever we go four days without rain in these parts, people start wringing their hands about drought. I had a feeling we'd be paying for the warm and dry June with soggy weeks ahead, because dry periods almost never last around here. What we're seeing so far in July is a good indication my fear was right. Last year, when none of my fairs was on, every single day I would have been out a fairgrounds fetishing was sunny and clear. Every single one of them. So far, I'm 0-for-1 in 2021.
