What is normal and what goes on in a minority of cases are two different things. Here's the irony with me. My spankings that went on past the "normal" age to stop them (around age 10?) were more effective and impactful than the ones from my early childhood. This is because teenagers often rebel against their parents and behave badly. I could even see that as normal and perhaps healthy because the teen is trying to become their own independent person. It's an expression of separation from their parents. For better or worse when that rebellious independent spirit is squashed out of you it really has an impact, it shapes who you become. Especially if you are like me and take it all in and let it shape you. I am so much more passive and obedient than my typical peers. This is probably bad in some ways. In a sense I feel am being emasculated. Yet I have also discovered some people love it. They compliment me on how nice I am. I am also loved by the bosses at my part-time job, they don't normally find workers who are so naturally respectful and obedient.
