Reason is likely male aggressiveness, and females being caregivers. Most families will tell you that the boys get spanked every week or so; the girls get spanked, but a lesser total. I remember in school that boys openly did very stupid things, with girls busy doing sitting and whispering. It takes more work to get boys to adulthood.

After age 9, girls are spanked more. It is much more common for girls to be spanked through their teens than for boys. However, spankings are much more frequent at earlier ages, so it is likely that more spankings are given to boys than to girls overall. Children that young aren't the ones posting here, though.
