Since it was booting OK from a 7.1 boot floppy, I suspect corrupted software and/or drivers on the internal hard disk.

The 575 board will *not* work unless you modify *either* the board *or* the OS; instructions are in the CC FAQ.

External drives are often unterminated; if the internal drive is *also* unterminated, that would explain the identical failure of the two drives when installed internally.

Go back to the original CC board until you get this straightened out as it will make things infinitely easier than trying to deal with another potential problem at the same time.
