Subject: PowerCC 5500/225 - won't fire up

Well, I pushed my luck - my color classic (VGA screen mod) was working perfectly with an LC 630 board when I decided tear it apart and go further.

Got ahold of a 5500/225 board, so I gutted the innards of the color classic to fit in a CD-ROM (mounted sideways, of course - tray popping out the side of the case took a lot of Dremel surgery, but actually looks OK!)) and hard drive. Amazingly got them to fit well (although room for comm slot ethernet on board was very challenging!).

Problem? It powers up, but all I get is a blank screen. Will not show blinking question mark. Tested the motherboard, it is fine. The CD-ROM is SCSI-4x, and the hard drive is ATA - both test fine. I went so far as to try the reverse - a SCSI HD and an ATA CD-ROM, but then the screen just stayed black! In both cases, can hear the HD's spinning, and motherboard fan working. Putting the LC 630 board back in returns everything back to perfect working order!

Any ideas? Thank you.
