http://lowendmac.com/tech/pds.shtml says that the 68030 PDS in the IIci and the LC PDS in the 575 are quite different, although I confess that I've never seen a comparitive pin-out tabulation.

It's quite possible that the 575 and cache card could both be destroyed. Assuming they are different it was naughty of Apple to use the same connectors.

If we found that the pin-outs were the same, then it might be worth the risk, but not, IMHO, before we know that.
