While I had several PCs connected to the net via a hub, I live alone so was only at one PC at a time. I suspect that I may need to upgrade from a hub to a DSL/router device. It will do DHCP to my provider, and then fake net addressing down stream.

All I want to do now is plug the external DSL modem into my CC and make sure I can surf. If I can do that, then I will upgrade to a DSL/router (like the Linksys box) and try to figure out the addressing issues for my CC.

Thanks for the info on setting up 8.1. I hope 8.1 arrives soon. I look forward to trying your suggestions.
