Derek, you're confusing people again.

The IDE wiring IS NOT THAT COMPLICATED.

Look at the original harness. Note the way the cable faces relative to the nub on the black female IDE plug on the end.

When you put on a longer cable, just FOLLOW THIS TEMPLATE EXACTLY and you won't have any problems. If it's built exactly like the stock cable, the orientation of the "red wire" DOES NOT MATTER AT ALL. It's a red herring.
