The three jumpers are a binary number. a jumper being a "1", and no-jumper being a "0". In a three digit binary number there are 8 possibilities. (Only 7 can be used at once.) It's just like counting in binary.

000 = ID0
100 = ID1
010 = ID2
110 = ID3
001 = ID4
101 = ID5
011 = ID6
111 = ID7 (I believe this one is reserved for the controller.)
